Scouts & families, start your engines!
I hope all the Dens have changed the oil and filled up the tires on their respective Cubmobiles in preparation for this Sunday’s event. Please arrive on time so we can make sure that each Scout gets three opportunities to drive their Cubmobile. If you know you will not be able to attend, please email me ahead of time so I can make the necessary adjustments.
Sunday, November 4th, 1100 AM to 200 PM (approximate end time)
Jackson Elementary School, 2700 Fountain Oaks Dr., Morgan Hill
ALL DRIVERS MUST BRING & WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES AND A BICYCLE/SKATEBOARD STYLE PROTECTIVE HELMET
Scouts will “race” in a random order representing their den against other dens. This is a fun race and no rankings or standings will be maintained.
Each Scout will have the opportunity to race three times if they choose.
Food will be available for purchase so bring a few dollars.
Until Pennzoil or Good Year Tires come through with a sponsorship, our event is a parent driven activity. I will start setting up the track and safety barriers at 0930 AM. If you are available to help with a screw gun or just adult strength, I would greatly appreciate it. Please email me if you can arrive before the event to assist with preparation and/or stay 30 minutes after the event to help clean up. Also, if you are willing to help with the sale of the lunch items, Mrs. Cubmaster and I would appreciate it. Please email me.
If you have considered taking over the coordination of this fun event, it would behoove you to come early. This is my last year in Pack 700; if I show up to next year’s race I’d just be that creepy old guy hanging out with Cub Scouts.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday. (Please remember it is the morning we switch our clocks!)

The County of San Mateo is hosting their annual Open House Crime Lab Tour — a Free event for interested scientists and sleuths.
Please see the PDF for more info, and feel free to forward the notice.
This is a terrific, very well-run outreach event hosted by the County of San Mateo (*please note, Santa Clara County does not run one of these at this time – their crime labs are closed to the public).
The actual tour takes about 1 hour; you’d want to plan on leaving MH right after school and allow 1 to 1.25 hours for Silicon Valley commute. Free parking at the Tower Road County Building.
Several of the activities on the tour apply toward various badges/journeys. Some of the tour activities in prior years have included DNA field testing (using a strawberry!), how to take finger prints, and analyzing a sample crime scene. Lots of fun for young detectives!
Interested Den leaders, please call ahead of time to advise that a Scout den is planning on attending so they can plan for numbers + age groups. The staff is wonderful with kids, and will tailor their tour discussion based on your troop’s age range.
Open House at the Crime Lab/Coroner’s Office; 50 Tower Road, San Mateo, CA. Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. For further questions, contact 650-312-5306.
